A priori / a posteriori

If I knew you forever, I knew you that day,

walking down pavement, gun-shy and grey,

my hand in your pocket, superficially

expressing that you were mine, temporarily.

If you knew me today, you might love me,

but never temporarily, still never–

with my hand in your pocket, and not yours in mine,

but hand in hand on an uncreated path.
